A hardy vine that can grow to 8 inches. It may even grow into a short lived perennial shrub. It can be grown as an annual in most temperate climates, in well-drained soil with full sun. Jiaogulan bears palmate leaves and toothed leaflets, with a three-inch terminal leaflet and small, yellow-green, star-shaped panicles of six-inch flowers that bloom in the summertime.
Traditionally Jiaogulan has been used for cholesterol and improve blood circulation, ease nervous tension and exhaustion, stimulate liver function, and enhance stamina.
