An evergreen tree that naturalized to climates as varied as those of Australia, California, and Texas. It has well known green to blue-black fruit that produces a useful, edible oil. Both the oil and the dried green-grayish colored leaves are used in herbal medicine.
Olive leaf has been traditionally used for lowering fevers, infections of the skin, lowers blood pressure, lower blood sugars (but does not treat diabetes), and using acid from olives is known to be an antibacterial (killing both infectious and helpful bacteria).
